- The NBA and NFL are making plans for games in arenas. So MTV ought to be able to pull this off at Barclays Center.
- So risky to bring theVMAs to New York City this year. Though a live event like theVMAs would help lift up the city.
- Has MTV reached out to Wyoming? They have only a dozen deaths. Maybe theVideo Music Awards should go there this year.
- I never cared much for awards shows, but after three months of quarantine I’ll take anything, right now.
MTV has designs of helping New York City rebound from this tragic pandemic. TheVideo Music Awards could return to the Big Apple. MTV wants a live show at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in August.
Managers of the top music acts received this week a “save the date” notice for Sunday, August 30th.
An MTV spokesperson said (quote), “We’re exploring with government officials, the medical community and key stakeholders on how to safely hold the 2020 VMAs.”
Naturally, the safety of performers and the crowd is paramount. MTV may have remote performances. Also, Barclays Center might not have an audience. These are contingency plans if this August 20,000 screaming fans are not allowed into Barclays. (Variety)
