Flavor Flav Says NBC Removed Him from the Rockefeller Tree Lighting Event

Flavor Flav is a well-known figure. For one generation, he was the hype man for Public Enemy, and for another, he starred in the reality show Flavor of Love. His unique voice and iconic clock chain made him famous worldwide. Recently, he attended the Rockefeller Tree Lighting ceremony on December 4, where he joined other celebrities like Jennifer Hudson, Dan + Shay, Little Big Town, and the Backstreet Boys. Flav was excited to see the Backstreet Boys perform, but NBC security reportedly removed him from the event.

After being escorted out, Flavor Flav shared his experience on Twitter. He clarified that he had been invited and had even been taken backstage to meet the Backstreet Boys. However, he claimed that security confronted him there. He recounted that a security guard told him NBC did not want him in that area. A social media representative had asked to capture content, which added to the confusion. Flav expressed that the whole situation felt strange, especially since he was asked to leave. He couldn't understand what he did wrong, stating he was not causing any trouble. “What did I ever do to NBC or anyone?” he questioned, highlighting that his goal is to spread joy. He mentioned his role in NBC’s coverage of the recent Olympic Games, where he was a sponsor and hype man for the U.S. water polo teams, something he was very proud of.

Flavor Flav had a five-year sponsorship deal with both the men's and women's teams. He hoped to use his popularity to bring attention to U.S. athletes. "We know that water polo is not as popular as basketball or football," he said, expressing his desire for the sport to be better recognized. It’s unfortunate that he faced issues with NBC, and it would be great if they could resolve their differences. Keep it locked to 103.5 The Beat for more!
