Life inevitably took a few turbulent twists and turns, so PJ a much-needed break. Emerging from these trials and tribulations in late 2018, she embraced a newfound confidence. As part of this awakening, she once again tapped into formative influences such as Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Stevie Wonder, and Whitney Houston. She now draws inspiration from the sound and energy of Mary Blige to tell her story. She began bending genres and blending pop, soul, and country until the music began โdripping in soul,โ as she likes to say. PJ released her 2019 single โOne Missed Callโ as a reintroduction to her new artistry.
โThis is about me waking up and breathing for the first time as an adult,โ she leaves off. โI want people to see themselves in my songs. If you need to see what a real person looks like, look at me. I donโt have shit figured out. I donโt pretend to either. Itโs okay though. Thatโs who I am. Thatโs my music.โ
