PJ: iHeartRadio On The Verge Artist

Raised in North Carolina and Atlanta, singer-songwriter PJ moved to Los Angeles in 2014. She started her music career behind the scenes as a songwriter, penning โ€œLeft Right Leftโ€ for Charlie Puth, โ€œI Donโ€™t Knowโ€ for Meek Mill, โ€œTrue Colorsโ€ for Wiz Khalifa โ€“ among many more songwriting credits. Signed to Atlantic Records, she transitioned to the spotlight by way of the 2015 EP Walking Around Pools followed by 2016โ€™s Rareโ€”which boasted collaborations with G-Eazy and Ty Dolla $ign. The projectโ€™s single โ€œTell Meโ€ [feat. Jevon Doe] garnered acclaim from Ones to Watch, HipHopDX, and many others.

Life inevitably took a few turbulent twists and turns, so PJ a much-needed break. Emerging from these trials and tribulations in late 2018, she embraced a newfound confidence. As part of this awakening, she once again tapped into formative influences such as Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Stevie Wonder, and Whitney Houston. She now draws inspiration from the sound and energy of Mary Blige to tell her story. She began bending genres and blending pop, soul, and country until the music began โ€œdripping in soul,โ€ as she likes to say. PJ released her 2019 single โ€œOne Missed Callโ€ as a reintroduction to her new artistry.

โ€œThis is about me waking up and breathing for the first time as an adult,โ€ she leaves off. โ€œI want people to see themselves in my songs. If you need to see what a real person looks like, look at me. I donโ€™t have shit figured out. I donโ€™t pretend to either. Itโ€™s okay though. Thatโ€™s who I am. Thatโ€™s my music.โ€
