Guardians Defeat Mariners In 2 hours With 2 runs

SEATLLE, WA--- The Guardians and Mariners starting pitchers dealed a very quick 2 hour game Saturday night, with the Guardians defeating the Mariners 2-0.

Starting pitchers Aaron Civale and Logan Gilbert duked it out on the mound Saturday night. Aaron Civale would pitch 7 innings, giving up only 2 hits with 3 strikeouts in his first start of the year. Mariner starter Logan Gilbert went 6 innings, giving up 4 hits and struck out 7 Guardians batters, this matchup is a preview of the pitching matchup for the home opener in Cleveland next Friday at Progressive Field in Cleveland. The 2 runs scored in the game came via the first 2 home runs for the Guardians this season, a solo homer from Josh Naylor in the 4th inning with another solo bomb from Andres Gimenez in the 7th. In addition to the starters, James Karinchak would come in for relief in the 8th inning, he would get himself into a jam still some what struggling with the pitch clock. But Karinchak would manage to work out of the jam striking out Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodriguez.
