Couple Helps Nearly 200 Ukrainian Refugees Fly To Canada

When Russia invaded Ukraine, Calgary couple Michael Garnett and Rebecca Rider traveled to Poland and worked to help Ukrainians flee the war to safety.

Once back home, Rebecca heard from her coworker, a fellow pilot from Calgary-based airline WestJet, who’d been using buddy passes to help Ukrainians fly to Canada.

The couple picked up where he left off, started a charity called Help From Canada, and has since helped nearly 200 Ukrainians escape to North America.
