WATCH: Woman Plays Violin During Brain Surgery

A UK-based musician proved that classical music stimulates the mind in more ways than one after playing the violin in the middleof a brain tumor operation.

As the medical team at King’s College Hospital in London worked to remove a tumor from Dagmar Turner, they asked her to play the violin to ensure parts of the brain which control delicate hand movements and coordination were not damaged during the millimeter-precise surgery.

Dagmar was worried the surgery would leave her unable to perform but that was not the case.

The doctors managed to remove over 90-percent of the tumor and retained all movement and function in her left hand.

Three days after the procedure, she was well enough to go home to her husband and son.
