Lecrae opened up about his thoughts on Kendrick Lamar and Young Thug during his time on The Breakfast Club.
The Christian rapper stopped by to speak with DJ Envy, Charlamagne Tha God and Jess Hilarious on Thursday morning, July 31. At one point in the conversation, Charlamagne brought up K. Dot's shout out to Lecrae on his seething diss track "Watch The Party Die" aimed at Drake, and commended him for responding with relatable lyrics on "Die For The Party."
"Dot will throw you a lay-up and it's like, 'Do I dunk this or not?'" Lecrae began. "Especially for him because he's got so many clout chasers."
"So for Dot to mention me in a song and say 'I wonder what Lecrae would do?' First of all you paying homage to my lifestyle, my processing. It's not like 'Lecrae's a good rapper.' He's saying 'What would Lecrae do' in this circumstance.'"
At first, Lecrae said he didn't want to say anything and thought it would've been lame to respond. However, his friend AT convinced him to respond. He also said he sent Lamar his upcoming album Reconstruction, but hasn't heard back yet. Lecrae just dropped his new single "Bless You" featuring Torey D'Shaun ahead of the album's release in August.
Elsewhere in the discussion, Lecrae also react to Young Thug's recent comments about gospel artists. In a post he wrote on X earlier this month, Thugger said, "If u a rapper and u a rat, u gotta just go gospel twin." Most fans assumed his post was a shot at Gunna, who was accused of snitching ahead of the YSL RICO trial last year. At the time, Lecrae wrote back to Thug and said, "You’re welcome over here too fam. It ain’t a graveyard…it’s a garden." Lecrae said he hasn't spoken to Thug personally, but he's open to a conversation.
"I'm down, like Thug holla at me," he said. "I mean, it's not a graveyard, it's a garden. We thriving. We growing."
Watch the entire interview below and look out for Lecrae's upcoming album Reconstruction on August 22.
