A popular snack sold in stores around the country, including in Ohio, has been recalled over the risk it poses for causing a "serious" reaction.

Naturipe Value Added Fresh LLC has issued a recall of 694 cases of its "Berry Buddies, berries & pancakes" bento box snack packs due to the presence of wheat and eggs that were not declared on the label, according to a recall notice shared February 19 by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration. This poses the risk of a "serious allergic reaction" to consumers with an allergy or severe sensitivity.

The product, packaged in 2.01 oz/60 gram colorful packs, was sold in Kroger and Meijer retail locations in 13 states: Arkansas, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin. The recall affects products with a lot number of 1097901 and an expiration date of 02/25/2025.

According to the FDA, an investigation discovered that a production label changeover failure caused an incorrect label to be placed on the back of the packages. The issue has since been corrected.

There have been no reported illnesses connected to the product as of time of the recall. Consumers with a wheat or egg sensitivity are urge to either throw it out or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
