Drake goes #1 again with "In MY Feelings"

Drake has had a remarkable year. Even with the scorching diss record by Pusha T Drake seemed to just fly over it all and land at the top.  His latest album "Scorpion" is like the biggest record ever setting records in this new world we cal digital.  Streams are downloads.  Drake reached over 116 million of those in one week breaking the record last set 5 years ago by Baauer's "Harlem Shake".  Now just to give you an idea how big Drake's album is out of the top 13 biggest streaming weeks for a single record Drake owns 10 of those spots. Yes the "Keke Dance" made famous by IG Star "Shiggy" helped to push the record sort of lie the "Manequin Challenge" made famous by Rae Sremurd and their song "Black Beatles".  Incredible to say the least.  It also gives you an idea of how the music business has changed.  116 million singles in one week was unheard not too long ago.  think about this for a second.  "Back in the day" if your favorite artist had a new song out you rushed to the record or CD store in hopes you could get your copy before they were all sold out.  I remember as a young DJ rushing to Armand's on Chestnut Street in Philly to get that "new song" sometimes getting there just in time to buy the last copy or sometimes I Was too late and would have to wait until the next shipment.  I can't tell you how depressing that was.  That means that night when they asked me to play it I wouldn't have it.  Luckily for me I found out when the new shipments came in which was Thursdays (?) and I would be there early and get all the new records early!  Now with that in mind think about groups that were selling 7, 8 million records with no internet, Music Videos and limited radio play!  They were the "Drake's of their day".  Fast forward to 2018 and you have what I don't think anyone saw coming.  The day of the digital music file and how it would change how we listen and buy our music.  I could go on since I'm fascinated by the new technology we have especially when it comes to how we get and listen to our music.  One thing for sure Drake goes number one again. and he shows now signs of stopping anytime soon so get ready to "click away"!
